Accessibility
FoodHQ aims to meet WCAG 2.2 level AA. It does not currently claim conformance, because parts of the necessary verification have not been done and saying otherwise would be a claim about testing rather than about the site.
What has been verified
- Keyboard operation. Every interactive control — navigation, search, evidence disclosures, Share — is reachable and operable by keyboard, with a visible focus indicator and no traps. A skip link precedes the navigation.
- Structure. Every page has one first-level heading, headings descend in order, landmarks are present and named, and the current navigation item is marked so it is announced as well as underlined.
- Colour contrast. Every foreground and background pair in the design has been measured against its actual colour values, not judged by eye. Ratios are recorded in the project’s accessibility notes.
- Reflow. Pages are built narrow-first and were checked for horizontal scrolling and clipped text at narrow widths. Wide tables scroll within their own region rather than forcing the page sideways.
- Motion. There is no animation on this site, so nothing competes with a reduced-motion preference.
What has not been verified
No testing with an actual screen reader has been performed. The markup has been checked for correct semantics, which is not the same thing: semantics can be right and the experience still poor. This is the main outstanding item and it needs a person with a real screen reader.
No testing with real assistive-technology users has been performed.
Known limitations
- Comparison tables scroll horizontally on narrow screens. The scroll region is announced, but a wide table remains harder to use on a phone than on a desktop.
- Evidence disclosures are collapsed by default, so the supporting detail takes an extra interaction to reach.
Reporting a barrier
There is no live contact route yet; see Corrections, which describes the same limitation honestly rather than publishing an address that goes nowhere.
