Advertising and commercial disclosure
There is currently no advertising, no sponsorship and no affiliate link anywhere on this site. No commercial relationship exists that could be disclosed.
This page describes the rules that apply if that changes, because the constraints are built into the software now rather than being written when the money arrives.
Commercial logic is kept out of the knowledge
FoodHQ holds no advertiser data, no product catalogue and no commercial ranking logic. If commercial recommendations ever appear, they will be requested from a shared service that sits outside this site entirely and knows nothing about the knowledge base.
What money can never affect
- What is published, and what is withheld.
- What any page says, and the order it says it in.
- Which sources are pursued or cited.
- Whether a page is offered to search engines.
- The result of a search.
Where commercial content can never appear
Certain surfaces are permanently excluded, and the exclusion is enforced in the software rather than left to editorial discretion. They include anything diagnostic, anything about rescuing food that has gone wrong, anything about doneness, anything touching food safety, allergens, safe storage or vulnerable groups, and anything reached in a hurry.
The reasoning is simple: someone reading those pages is not in a position to evaluate an advertisement, and a page that needs to be trusted immediately cannot also be selling something.
If affiliate links ever appear
Under current policy the only place they could is equipment — and never where the page says the equipment is unnecessary. They would be separated from the knowledge, labelled, and never presented as a recommendation arising from the evidence. No brand or model rankings, ever.
