FoodHQ will get things wrong. The useful question is what happens next, and the design tries to make corrections visible rather than quiet.

How a correction is recorded

Statements are never edited in place. A correction is a new statement that supersedes the old one, and the original stays in the knowledge base marked as superseded. That means the history of a change is preserved rather than overwritten, and a page that changed can be traced to the change that caused it.

• Adding evidence to an existing statement may not alter what it says. If the meaning would change, that is a correction, not an update, and it is made visibly as one.
• A withdrawn statement is marked retracted and stops being published. It is not deleted.
• A superseded statement stays readable in the record as the thing that was previously believed.
• A source or location correction is treated the same way: the citation is replaced, not silently repointed.

Contested statements

Where sources genuinely disagree, FoodHQ does not pick a winner quietly. The disagreement is recorded with the statement and shown to you on the page, before you expand anything.

Reporting an error

There is no live contact form on this site yet, and rather than publish an address that goes nowhere, this page will name the route once one exists. If you have reached this site through someone who works on it, that is currently the way through.

Any correction that does arrive is applied by the process above.
