Terms and disclaimer

FoodHQ is published for general information and education. It is a reference for how food behaves, and it is not a substitute for professional advice.

General cooking information

Most of this site explains mechanisms: what heat does, what changes in food, what limits a result. This material is offered as an explanation of why things happen, not as instructions to follow. Cooking judgements remain yours, and depend on your ingredients, your equipment and your circumstances, none of which this site knows about.

Food safety

FoodHQ does not give food-safety guidance. Statements that would constitute safety advice require review by qualified reviewers, and FoodHQ currently has none. 17 such statements are held unpublished for that reason.

Where a safety question arises, FoodHQ names the responsible authority for your jurisdiction and links to it. Please treat that authority as the source, not this site. Food law and safety guidance differ between countries, and guidance that is correct in one place can be wrong in another.

Health and nutrition

Nothing here is dietary, nutritional or medical advice. FoodHQ does not tell you what to eat, does not assess whether a food is good for you, and is not a suitable basis for decisions about allergies, intolerances or any medical condition. Consult an appropriately qualified professional.

Accuracy

Every published statement carries its source, and you are encouraged to check it. FoodHQ withholds more than it publishes precisely to avoid asserting things it cannot support, but it does not warrant that everything published is free of error. Where an error is found it is corrected by the process described in Corrections.

Use of this site

You are welcome to read, link to and share these pages. The sources cited remain the property of their publishers and are subject to their own licences; FoodHQ points to them and does not redistribute them.
